Beadwork Magazine: February/March 2007
Knotted Treasures

In the February/March 2007 issue of Beadwork Magazine, I have a fun knotted project using one of my favorite color schemes: blues/greens.  This rich lariat is meant to be worn wrapped twice around the neck with a tiered effect as shown above.  The double strands of the lariat design create a more substantial lariat with added texture.  The design is great for using leftover beads in a complementary palette.  Mesh ribbons from my friends, Janell and Gary Botto of  Specialty Beads, add a fiber influence to the design.  You will find the project from pages 78 to 80.  Add a dot of G-S Hypo Cement to the ends of each of the wire mesh after twisting to avoid fraying.  I hope you enjoy making this luscious piece.

In this same issue, some of my favorite bead instructors and friends have projects.  Don't forget to check out the wonderful projects from Marcia Decoster (pgs 40-42), Leslee Frumin (pgs 86-87) and Liz Smith (pgs 68-69).  My talented friend Jean Yates, of Pretty Kitty Dog Moon Jewelry, has also incorporated some lavender Victoria beads into a fun bracelet and earring ensemble called "Keys to My Heart".  This is a free web project from Beadwork.
